Eva Marisaldi
As the master for the autunm workshop 2007 the Foundation has selected Eva Marisaldi.
The Bolognese artist, Eva Marisaldi, born in 1966, has from the outset of her artistic career been widely acclaimed by critics both at home and abroad. Her artistic experimentation is a form of subtle and disenchanted game that delves into and amplifies the obviousness of the fleeting moments of our everyday lives by focusing upon a hidden reality that only an artistic temperament is capable of analyzing.
The vast range of languages and media she has chosen to use in her multifaceted work includes drawings, video, installations, actions, photography and sculpture. Central to her work is a form of immateriality whose expressive function is characterized by a degree of cryptic layering that gives little or no evidence of communication.
As a result, her work does not have an immediate or violent impact. Instead the viewer needs to pause at length and reflect in order to be led into a poetic and rarefied universe bordering emptiness and silence.
She is one of the most sought after Italian artists of her generation abroad; many Italian and foreign museums have dedicated a solo exhibition to her work (ARC Musèe d’Arte Moderne de la Ville de Paris, 1993; FRAC Languedoc-Roussillon in Montpellier, 1995; Kunsthaus in Essen, 1995; Galleria d'Arte Moderna, Bologna, 1999; Museo d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Rovereto - Trento, 2000; GAM, Galleria Civica d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Turin, 2002; MAMCO in Geneva, 2003).
