The annual programme of residential workshops for young artists over the 2017/2018 academic year, elaborated by the artists/tutors Andrea Caretto and Raffaella Spagna, proposed a path of familiarisation with a territory – the Altopiano of Poirino – through direct experience and confrontation with the forces that shaped it, setting out from its contact with the ‘original Telluric currents’, from which every ensuing manifestation of this environment took shape. The overall programme of the interventions was conceived as a collective research project, geared towards intertwining a profound relationship with a place. IperPianalto was a shared learning process in which different gazes and approaches to the artistic process came face to face, opening up to collaborations with local subjects and converging on a corpus of knowledge and sensitive forms, accessible to a broader public. The artists under 35 taking part in the project, chosen via a national call for proposals, are: Tea Andreoletti, Thomas Berra, Alessandro Perini, Marco Ranieri and Gabriele Rendina. The five young artists were able to interface with their tutors in an intense exchange and one of great understanding, as part of an itinerary which over the course of eight months, foresaw workshops, encounters, collective actions, performances and lastly a final show of the project, which will inaugurate on Saturday 23 June at 6pm at the headquarters of the Fondazione Spinola Banna per l’Arte in Poirino.

The exhibition at the Fondazione Spinola Banna per l’Arte presents works by both the tutor artists and the five participants in the project. The work Sala di riposo Planiziale by Caretto/Spagna will then go on to be displayed in the entrance to the GAM in Turin.

The programme of the day:
- Meeting at 4.30pm on the corner of Strada Fontaneto – Via Cafasso in Chieri, and presentation of AZIONE DISANTROPICA by Tea Andreoletti, in the presence of council representatives;
- Arrival at 6pm at the Fondazione Spinola (Poirino) for the presentation of the works by Caretto|Spagna, Tea Andreoletti, Thomas Berra, Gabriele Rendina Cattani, Alessandro Perini and Marco Ranieri, and of the final publication relating to the project. Refreshments to follow.
